How Much do we Depend Upon Aviation?

People often tend to think of flying as a means of transport which certainly it is. The question is though, how much of a part does travelling by air actually play in people’s lives nowadays?

Why don't we initially consider just one aircraft. Take the Boeing 737. First introduced in the early 1960s and it and the plane has been in service pretty well constantly since then. Naturally, there have been changes. This is no different than other aircraft. Contemplate this though: there is said to be a Boeing 737 taking off somewhere in the world every five seconds. Take that in for a minute. Of course, this is merely one single kind of plane. These are not company figures, but data collected from reliable air traffic movement sources.

As for other types of planes, well just about every time you watch your TVfor any amount of time I guarantee you will spot a Boeing 747 - or a jumbo jet as it is popularly known. These aircraft move between 400 and 500 passengers at time over distances of thousands of kilometres every day.

So far I have given instances of two of the more popular planes in service nowadays. Aeroplanes we know and ones that if we fly, we're likely to use.

Let's have a look at one more manner in which aviation could possibly have an effect on all of us. Most hospitals nowadays have spaces for landing helicopters. These are used for a range of things in our normal daily lives. The one I'm referring to is the lifesaving machine that transfers an injured person from say a road accident in the fastest possible way, reducing the time before the person receives treatment.

We also see helicopters - possibly daily - when we journey along motorways to and from our places of work. They keep track of traffic conditions and congestion and are used to report whenever there is a necessity to send emergency vehiclesin the case of road problems.

An increasing amount of private aircraft are to be found in the skies. Firms invest in air transportation as a way to alleviate the issue of road vehicle jams and rail congestion. They are now not just the preserve of the rich. they are instead a practical means of conducting business in an efficient way.

I've principally to the topic of aviation in our normal daily lives and above all civil aircraft. Nevertheless, we do not realise that we are also continually being protected by military aircraft that fly in our skies. Usually we don't see them - but they are there, or at least I hope they are.

Day in day out we have military planes flying somewhere around the world, often not taking part in military missions, but actually performing life-saving work such as delivering food to impoverished countries and taking much needed medicines and other supplies to various places around the world.

Perhaps we should also think about how every one of these assorted kinds of aeroplanes are kept flying. I'm not actually referring to the professional pilots and air crews here, even though they play a crucial role in ensuring our safety and security safeguarding us when we fly, but rather I'm talking about the technicians on the ground who take care of and maintain the aircraft. Such people utilise their abilities and knowledge every day, along with specialist aviation tools, and the reality that travelling by air is as safe as it is is thanks to their professionalism.

It's certainly easy to take for granted all of the advantages that aviation and air travel brings us in the modern world. Undoubtedly though it has become something that we depend upon a great deal and simply wouldn't be able to live without.
